These are some photos from behind the scenes of the first episode I made.
The shots of Thomas at the beginning of the episode were taken on the floor.
The express coaches were made using Annie and Clarabel. I made these as I only had one express coach that came with Gordon. I made them by adding dark green and grey with blue tack as I still wanted to reuse the coaches as Annie and Clarabel.
Knapford station was made on a small table. The ground was made using green pieces of cardboard.
For the base I used a piece of cardboard. The two platforms and eight thin and straight pieces cut out from styrofoam and glued with wood glue. All the styrofoam is covered with tissue paper and glued with a mixture of wood glue and water. For the roof, I glued some long tooth picks horizontally. Then I grabbed some pieces of wire and bent them in a semi-circle shape to make the arches. Then some small tooth picks were added to the arch. I painted the station with poster colours. When it dried I used a plastic pocket folder and secured it into place with some staples on the side and a thin wire running down the middle.
I started filming on a large table painted green from this time onwards . For the sky I used light blue cardboard that was taped to two boxes to stay upright.
For this scene I used two boxes for the sides and covered them with rocks. The river was made by filling a white plastic sheet with coloured water. The water colour was made with paint.
The first time I made Henry's Tunnel I used a piece of cardboard from a cardboard box to make the tunnel face.
This clip shows how I made the scene of Thomas going to the water tower. I used a k'nex motor with a fishing line.
